Have we made it through the summer?
I am glad that Fall is here. Less humidity and more windy days here in the sunshine state.
I work outdoors as a photographer at the most magical theme park and in all honesty, I enjoy every second of it (besides the fact the heat feels like death). During the summer I’ve learned to appreciate the rain and when the sun sets. I took advantage of drinking so much water and applying African Shea butter on my face, (which had vitamins E & F) an amazing organic sunscreen I recommend.
Now I have to keep it golden (real) with you. My biggest fear from working outdoors was getting an uneven tan which happened. My face was darker than anywhere else in my body and that annoyed me. I didn’t mind getting a darker tan I just wanted it to at least be everywhere in my body. What didn’t help was when I kept hearing comments like, “Wow, you got real dark.” Not sure if I should take that as a compliment or an insult so I took it as a compliment. I’ve learned to fall in love with my uneven summer tan.
The best compliment I have received was, “Now you look really GOLDEN.”
To all my melanin sisters-You are beautiful when the sun sets and when the sun rises. You are beautiful when you sweat and when you’re dry. You’re beautiful when your complexion gets darker and when it gets lighter. You don’t need makeup to feel confident neither are you insecure because you wear makeup. Let’s learn to fall in love with the changes of our complexion in every season. YOU ARE GOLDEN! SO….
